The most empowering takeaway why to me was Simon Sinek’s (SNHU, 2021). Simon discusses his “why” and how it brings him fulfillment and a purpose. He discusses how he has no choice and is called to do the work (Youtube, 2021). That statement resents with me; I am participating in a major career shift where I will make substantially less money because I feel compelled. Simon says it is why we are here, which resonates with me. I am compelled to do this work; even in the school portion, I have felt a sense of purpose and connection to my authentic self. One’s values and beliefs are what determine one’s priorities. Knowing one’s why allows one to prioritize things that work towards their purpose in life. When one’s why is clearly defined, so are their priorities.
